its going to be awhile yet i'm sure. hopefully everything moves over slowly. I can't wait to see it with corals either.

Not the most exciting of progress pics, but you can see where the sump and fuge are going. sump on the left, fuge on the right. I think tonight is the end of the construction until I get to trim at least. finally on to the plumbing and the good stuff.

i'm more eager to get it filled than you can imagine :) but i'm trying to not rush too much. i'm hoping to get it filled up with plain old freshwater by the end of this weekend so I can play with some surge devices. I'm going to start making RO water probably too and saving that up with whatever containers I can find. I get about 65 gal/day out of that unit, so its going to take a few to fill it.

Well I got it filled with freshwater and have been playing with the plumbing. Also started building up the rock wall on the overflow side to hide the plumbing and maybe give some some nice spots for one vertical reef wall look.

Looks good so far. Let me know when your ready to start filling the tank with corals. I should have a bunch of nice zoos and some ricordias (greens, blues, and oranges) ready for sale/trade by then.

Yeah.. I had several laundry baskets of rock in that thing before I realized how much it was going to take to build a display... you may want to consider making a manmade rock panel for that end, and hanging your rock on it... Dan made one doe his system, and if he does not break it before it gets in the system, I think it'll look great...

Besides, if you made a larger portion of your rock, you could just cure it in the tank... and flush the water....

that is kinda what i'm attempting to do, just in tank. I considered doing it out of tank, but figured it would be way to heavy. plus i'm a clumsy clod and would break it.

the cure in tank is something i've been thinking about. I have to see how far all my base rock goes first. I know it will go quick. but hey, open space is nice, right? :)

if you use salt in your mix of mmlr you will have a salt resadue in the tank that you will have to scrape off if you do a intank cure. i had that problem and i had to use a razor to get it off the glass so i would be cautious about salt IN the rock. but now i see what your tring to do and i love ideas like that

Thanks for the warning on the salt. I had been planning on that for some pieces. that would have been bad. i'll have to pre-cure the stuff salt. the cement i'm going to use on this part of it probably won't have salt because i've got tons of little pieces I want to cement in place.

Got the larger of the small pieces of rock attached to the side wall. Might attempt to fill in the gaps tomorrow. We'll see. I've got 2 5 gallon pails of smallish rubble rock in bleach right now to clean it up. I'm hoping that will attach nicely in the spaces.
