Andrew's 125 starfire tank

Hi all,

I'm Andrew from Austin TX and I thought it was time to start my tank thread.

This tank was started in March 07. It's a 125 braceless starfire tank, with 4 foot calflow, made by AGE.

Here's the tank being delivered.

It has 3 tunze 6100 streams and a tunze wave box on a controller.

The stand is hand made from liptus wood. It houses a custom sump with a Deltec 701 skimmer.

It has a calcium reactor made by one of our local reefers. Here's a good shot of the sump:

The hood houses 2 400w MHs on a PFO HQI ballast. I prefer to run 12k reeflux blubs with the custom reflectors.

The tank runs between 78-80. I run a 1/4 hp chiller.

I'm sure I left something out. I'm happy to answer any hardware questions.

Here's a FTS taken after a few months:

Now on to some current coral shots. :)

Ok here's some shots from the other day. StarFire is my user name on my local reef club, AustinReefClub.com, so that's why you see that watermark in the images.

Thats all for now. Feedback welcomed.

Also, not sure if this is allowed, but I have some great growthshots on CoralGrowth.com as well as a live tank webcam at AwesomeReef.com Feel free to check those out.

Thanks for viewing!

You tank looks really good. You're Andrew, right? Did you ever answer my PM over there?

Give your tank just a little time and it will be over the top! All your colors really pop out at ya. Nice work man!

Marc, I'm not sure. I couldn't find my nitrate test kit. The dip stick says less than 20? If it's really important to you, I'll go get it tested.

This is really a great looking tank and even these good pictures don't do it justice. Give it about one more year and I think the corals will be busting the seams of the tank!

Yeah, whenever you get a chance to have a good test reading, that would be nice. No rush, and thank you.

I didn't see the thread title when I first clicked on the link, and didn't know your username over here. Sorry for asking for what looks like an obvious answer. :o

The scary thing is that as good as those pics are, the tank is much prettier in person. I think you have the best wavebox setting I have seen.

Great tank, can you give us a list of the fish you have in the tank? I am looking into starting a 120-125 gallon and this looks like something I would love to shoot for.

Blond Naso Tang
Pyramid Butterfly
Fairy Wrasse
Leopard Wrasse
2 Perculas
2 Chromis

I also like to add a mystery wrasse and a Sargasum Trigger.

Got some good fish shots.

Man is it hard to get a picture of fish while there yawning. Some day I'll get that perfect picture of my Blonde Naso yawning, but until then here is a good one of the blue tang.

Presenting the shyest manderin in the world. Impossible to get any pictures of:

Good shot of a pyramid butterfly

I took this full room shot just a few minutes ago. It a long exposure shot with only a single atinic on over the tank.

I also thought this would make a neat avatar. 27 different shots of my blue milli wrapped into one gif.
