Anemone ate frogfish

My sargassum frogfish was acting strange and gasping alot last night and I knew I was going to lose him based on his actions.

Sometime in the middle of the night he perished. The current in the tank must have taken the body straight to my Long Tentacle anemone because all that I can see of the frogfish is the head. Will the anemone be ok to eat the frogfish? If not I will remove it from the mouth of the LT. The anemone is about 5-6" in diameter and has a base about 5" tall. The frogfish was 2.5-3" long and about 1" tall.

Should I be concerned?

I didn't think to take pictures. I was more bummed about losing the frogfish. The anemone ended up spitting him out right before I left for work.

As for how it happened I think he mave have come in contact with air some time before making it to my tank. He was my first frogfish an a really amazing specimen. He was very active too which was fun to watch, but leads me to think he died from presidency ailments or air contact. I heard they usually sit around and wait for prey. Mine swam around 90% of the time and perched 10% of the time

I have seen some clownfish even pull a weak or dying fish into their nem to feed it, wonder if that's what happened since it sounds like yours was already ailing.

No shouldn't have been the air. Like I said these guys are the only anglers that can and will jump so they are very used to being exposed to the air

I'm not really sure what happened. I don't have a clown that could have pulled him in, just a single chromis. It jut seemed like the frogfish couldn't breath.

i had a carpet nem that ate one of my striated anglers. The angler was about 5-6 inches. It was unbelievable. I was very upset because he was the male of my breeding pair of striated anglers. The nem spit out the body that night pretty much undigested in a brown goop.

That carpet was a menace. I had to get rid of him. He also ate my pilot fish.
