Hello! I'm kind of new to saltwater and my husband and I just ordered our first purple long tentacle from liveaquaria.com they seem to really provide good quality specimens and they have great customer service... But that's not the point. We have an 85 gallon set up for 5 months all water quality is excellent and we have a bta that is doin great! So my question is that this anemone will not attach and has been here for 2 days now. His mouth is wide open also. Is this just behavior after shipping or is this something more serious? He is sticky and his tentacles are inflated. He looks great just the unattachment and the mouth. Thanks for your input. He is the most expensive piece we have purchased and we are worried about him!

What size tank?
What lights?
What are your parameters -- with numbers
How deep is your sandbed?
Do you run carbon?

85 gallon 6 t5 with 10 led moonlights ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 0 ph 8.1 calcium 440 ppm sandbed 3 inches and yes I run carbon. Does this info help? This morning I woke up nd he is in the corner with his foot by the glass still won't attach. I even dug him a hole by some nice rock away from current and he moved... I don't know what to do!

Are you acclimating it to your lights? If not, I would try 3 layers of window screening b/t the tank and your lights (( can be supported by egg crate )), and remove a layer every 5-7 days. Can't say for certain that that will make it settle in, but it has always helped any new anemones that I have gotten.

When he is secured to a rock and seems ready to feed--be careful! Overfeeding can be stressful especially after stresses like an unattachment.
