anemone compatibility?

I am in the planning stages of starting a small 29g clownfish/anemone system. Are there diferent anemone species I should not keep together? At this point, I am fond of GBTAs and RBTAs as they reproduce nicely, host clowns readily and look lovely.

My vision for this tank is to mature into a huge, multi colony of waving tentacles with a few clowns residing within.

Would you recommend launching a plan like this with a single, large anemone or several small ones?

Also, please recommend a beautiful, hardy, non aggressive, affordable clown species. I am leaning toward true percs.

I do have excellent experience with healthy reefkeeping and anemones but have never attempted a species only system like this, so Im calling on the experts for guidence.

You can just keep one clown fish hosting anemone in a 29 g tank. There is not a whole lot of room for anything else. Anemone is not coral. If you really know the anemone species really well, you can place it where it does not move, otherwise, disaster ensure. As a beginner anemone keeper, you should get larger tank for anemone.

I have kept anemones for quite a few years, but they have been part of mixed reefs. Ive had extremely healthy BTAs that have split multiple times and hosted clowns well.

Just have never kept a species only deal. I do not plan on increasing my equipment. i had to sell a mature system a couple years ago and am planning to start this with some stuff I stll have. I know I can make it work with the equipment and tank/sump I have. I just need some advise on livestock.

Personally I would go with a medium sized BTA...and if it were me and I was dedicating an entire tank to one species, I'd go with something fancy like a Sunburst or Rainbow nem. They are both stunning. I'm about to set up a nem only tank with one of my Sunbursts. I also think Onyx clowns against a Sunburst look stunning! Just my .02 ;)
