Anemone Crabs....

So was just curious if anyone has ever experienced this...

my anemone crab that lives in my S. Gig i found a couple inches away from the S. Gig, and has no legs...

is this natural with crabs? i know some crabs u can take their claws... and they grow back..ect..ect.. i didnt know if crabs maybe changed legs out every so often haha.. idk crazier things have happened.. from what i can see... nothing is really picking on him, and the clownfish that lived in the S. Gig never really picked on him either in the past 8 months..

im thinking worse caise scenario is was the clowns that pushed him out, but i figured they woulda finished him off not just take his leggs and leave him there.. lol like a pirate..
so thats why i asked if there was anything crazy naturally with crab legs that happen and if they grow back?..

150% posotive its not a molt because i stuck the turkey baster by it and it took off like a crey fish... jolting backward... and walking around on his claws haha..so ya pretty sure its not a molt unless its haunted =O

They can regenerate legs when they molt. What else is in the tank?

What you're describing does sound like predation. Any other crabs in your tank?

You could have a hitchhiker in your rockwork even though you've never seen it.

100% no hitchhiker crab.. started with dry rock... and have only added small Acropora frags between 1/2''-1'' with some mini colonies that i went threw religious and dipped.. my tank doesnt have alot in it..

2 clowns, 4 cardinals... and a tang and mandarin..


if it was a predator attack my bet would be the clowns ... since they started laying eggs about a month ago, maybe they decided they wanted to kick crab out of the S. Gig...

its what i kind of figured happened, BUTTT i just wanted to make sure crabs didnt molt their legs for some strange reason... ya kno..
