Anemone Dissapeared?

I went to my daughter's graduation this weekend and returned last night. The tank was fed by a friend for two days. My anemone is gone!! Or atleast I can't find him - have any of you guys ever heard of something like this? He looked fine when I left and water params are great. Can these guys hide in the rocks?

Yes, they can hide in the rockwork. Did you check behind it?

Also, do you have an overflow box?

I did check the overflow box - nothing? I looked for about an hour with a flash light and stuff - but I didn't move any rocks. I have the beginning of an algea bloom - I don't know if these things can start that quickly - if my friend over fed. I told him how much to feed, but this is all new to him so - I figure he fed them good (read too much). Maybe the algea bloom made the anemone a little unhappy?

Hey - I was in College Station for my daughters graduation. Are you part of the University?

blood shrimp

I do have a very good sized "Blood Shrimp" or "Fire Shrimp" is what everyone around here calls them. I wonder if that is possible?

I had my RBTA disappear out of my office tank a week ago. I came in on monday and the tank smelled a bit and my skimmer collection cup was completely full of the most horrible smelling stuff. After checking out the fish they were all alive but had fat bellies and I noticed small pink bits on the bottom of the front of the tank. Then I noticed my anemone was gone. The fish and shrimp were eating the chunks of anemone. I have a gold stripe maroon clown, bicolor angel, neon damsel, cleaner shrimp, and coral banded shrimp. two days later my cleaner shrimp died. I have no idea what happened but even my clown was eating bits of the anemone.

It may still be alive if you're not getting any ammonia. Dead anemones decay very fast. What kind was it? I had a condy that was bigger then my hand, but could shrink down to a golf-ball size. ( It never went roaming though, I guess I got lucky and got a happy one). Do a water change and put a little bit of food juice in the water, that may convince him to come out. You may end up moving a few rocks around. =/
