Anemone for my clowns?

After my tank being 98% wiped out by velvet :c these cuties seem to be the light at the end of my tunnel. They are currently in quarantine, both seem very healthy. One of them is a mix between Tangerine and Picasso, not sure about the other one... Black Ocellaris? :sad2: I want to get them an anemone. Any anemone that would be hostable for them? and wont move all over my rocks killing my corals? Or extra inclined to eat my tiny Clown Goby.

Hey,

They look good and yes the black one is an ocellaris. Give us details on your setup so a recommendation can be made on which anemone species would best suit your tank.

55g, moderate flow through most of the tank, with leds. I have a few Sps but mostly lps. No fish in the tank as now. The anemone would be introduced with the clowns in a month once they leave quarentine.

Just a FYI, they might not host the anemone, Some clowns do and some dont. Dont just buy one for the clowns, buy one for yourself, it would be added bonus if they use it. The thing with anemones is they will move where ever they want and feel the most comfortable with light and water flow.

How long has the tank been setup for? Anemones need a very stable and healthy environment, normally at least setup for a year. My favorites has always been the carpets and the Rose anemone.

I do know they might not host, I like anemones and the fact that my clowns might enjoy one inclines me to get it. I know they move but some are more "Mobil" some just kind of sit around the sand. The tank has been up 5 months.

Any anemone I have seen will move regardless until its comfortable. I would wait and let the tank mature as they are sensitive. What type of LED lighting do you have? You have to have enough light to keep it happy.

Currently I have one light. 120w (55x3w) full spectrum. I bought it from a local store. I'm going to buy another one once I get tax return like 2 weeks from now.

Lights have a crucial role in anemone health. Thats what I asked. there are to many people that try and keep them, with CF bulbs and wonder why they die. Your question was already answered, about the anemone. They will move where they want to, nothing you can do about it.
