Anemone help LTA/SANDLTA

I purchased a beatiful large LTA/SAND Anemone a week ago. Got it home and put it into its new home. Since then it has done nothing but move. It seems to become stationery during the day but then starts travelling towards evening. I have plenty of light maybe even too much for this guy.

The one problem is that I have a very shallow sand bed. There is no more than half an inch if sand on the bottom. Now my LTA is hiding out in the rocks with only his peddle showing. What do I do?? I do also have a far bit of curret in the tank. I even tried turning off my power heads for a day. Seemed to work at first but know he is hiding. Will it ever settle with no sand. Or should I try and help him along with some small rocks to anchore him down?

The anemones health is perfect at present it even feeds if I offer it some prawn. Help???? anyone

They usually want to try to hide their foot and column in the sand. Since you don't have enough sand for it to do that, you might try to find a rock overhang at the sand/rock interface and put his foot in the cave. In many cases they will attach to the bottom of the tank and then still feel protected by the cave.

The pot ideas sounds great. I have done it already. Now I wait and see if it will stay in there and behave. I just hope I have not stressed him out too much over the past few days will all the moving about. Time will tell. I will keep you informed. Thanks guys can always count on you when I am in a jam.

Dash!!!! the pot idea has also been refused by the LTA. I just dont know what else to do. The LTA keeps crashing into my other corals will this be a problem for the? I cant see any damage as yet
I have checked water par and they are all perfect. Any more ideas anybody?

I think your best option may be to add ALOT of sand to the tank. My VERY HEALTHY LTA loves his 4" sand bed. Prefered location seems to be deep in the sand and slightly under and rock, attached to both the rock and the glass tank bottom. I would suggest trying a tupperware bowl about 4" deep and 6-8" across. Fill it up with sand and then put a rock about 3" cube buried in the sand with an inch or so above the surface. This will give the anemone a nice secure feeling place to get his foot under a rock and deep in sand. If he moves to another part of the tank I'd try moving the tupperware to the new location and put him back in it. This will let him choose his lighting.

In my tank it took a couple months for the LTA to finally decide where it wanted to be. Which was about 3" away from where I initially put him and directly under a 250W iwasaki.

Good luck.

Okay, let me give this a try. The only thing is that the tupperware is going to look so ugly in my round tank. I have 250watts of MH light plus 6 T5 tubes large wave maker power hear and a nother power head. 200lbs of live rock in a 140gallon tank.

hmmm... are those all 80w T5s?

if your tank is fairly deep, 24" or more, I doubt the T5s would penetrate well enough for the LTA. I'd try and set him up directly under the 250W Mh and be sure to use a 10,000K bulb.
