I am 80% sure this is a cool looking bubble tip anemone.. or maybe I just think it looks cool. The clowns love it anyways.. I have never seen them go so crazy on an anemone before. Anyways.. here are some (bad) pictures.. Thanks .

my guess is magnifica, we need a good shot of the base to be sure. if it is a mag, it will overtake your tank ver quickly

My guess would be mag too, but thats just going by the shape of the tenticles which isn't a really good guage.

at night .. they dont look like that. it kind of reminds me of... grass the way the tentacles look at night (sorry thats a bad relation) but thats the best i can desribe it at night.. when lights go on it gets stubby for a bit then extends the tentacles a bit.

i tought mag's tentacles were more rounded near the end.

It did the first night when putting it in the tank.

I am going to take some pictures of the underside in a few minutes.

Alright. I took some pictures, but they aren't the greatest. This guy didn't want to close up... I turkey basted him.. rubbed it a bit.. and this is all I got. Hopefully it helps.. I'll keep an eye on it after lights out and see if it closes up or not.

Without a doubt it's magnifica? Interesting. I posted in the other thread BTW.

Also, is there any picture comparison between a BTA foot and magnifica?

Is that foot in a crevice or out on top of the rock? I still can't tell for sure, but really leaning towards a magnifica. They don't hide their foot in crevices and the tentacles will be very sticky compared to a bta if they are healthy.

here is a magnifica foot shot

And a not so great BTA shot- notice how it put its foot in a hole to protect itself.

im gonna have to say BTA. the foot is buried in the rock and the last picture of the tentacles is classic BTA.

Look carefully at the texture of the column. IMHO, it is rather distinctive of H. magnifica, not to mention Heteractis species in general. Flighty--I agree about the foot thing, but you can't always make generalized IDs based on that. The foot placement is what they are most likely to do, not necessarily set in stone. As far as the column and other features go, it just simply looks different to me (from a BTA that is), can't explain why. Have certainly been wrong before.

This is really interesting, in the last picture posted by OCDP, the tenticles look very much like a bta, but the coloration and base suggest Magnifica. If you look in the 3rd picture you can see that the tenticles are very closely packed up until a few inches away from the mouth which is charactaristic of magnifica, so my guess is H. Mag :)

Hmm, this is getting interesting. Let me take some more shots today. I plan on feeding it so hopefully it closes up for me a little more. Stay tuned....

I don't know about this ID anymore... I really am leaning towards a BTA... it started wandering the tank last night. It had stayed put for 5 days. I think it moved because I did a water change and probably irritated it a little big by doing a big tank cleaning.

I hope I can keep this anemone.. I want it to be happy and healthy, in order for it to thrive. If not, I'll have to see about passing him on to a better suited system. Wish me luck... (still working on more pictures.. but he has moved so its too hard)
