Anemone ID please

What kind of Anemone is this? What clownfish will host it, if any?

Looks like a condylactis anemone. They are from the Atlantic and don't naturally host clownfish. Some very adaptable clowns like clarki and tomato will sometimes accept them.

What about a Maroon Clown? Also how would a Maroon do with blennies and gobies? Lets say a Yellow Watchman and a Lawnmower.

Anemone ID please

i have a bta and a condy and my maroons host in both, but my condy ate my clown goby just to give you a heads up. and i know it was the condy because i caught her in the act . but i do i have a bi-color blenny with my maroons and they gte along great!

I recently had a condy just like this( got rid of it because it was growing to fast) and my clarkii and tomato hosted it. Clarkiis host almost anything and so do Tomatos.

Well the thing is I have two Ocellaris Clowns. Would a BTA be a better choice?

As far as I know eventually most condys will eat clowns. They don't host with them in nature. They come from different parts of the world. Kinda like pairing off an atlantic pistol shrimp with a pistol shrimp goby that hosts with pistol shrimp from the pacific.

It depends if the Condy even has the capability to kill a clownfish. If the clownfish is truly inert against the Condy, than a Condy cannot harm it. But if the Condy discharges certain structures of its nematocysts on the clownfish with the clownfish not being completely immue such as the acrorhagi, then the clownfish could very well be eaten. There are many factors involved though.

Yes, that is why I said "eventually." The clowns may be able to withstand the nematocysts of the anemone in the shorterm, but in the longterm may very well be killed not by the anemone's stings but by the anemone's own digestive juices. I believe there is a much higher chance that eventually the clown will be eaten alive while it sleeps within the tentacles of an atlantic anemone, at night, than by a pacific anemone.

It all depends. I wouldn't say eventually. Usually if a clown is hosting a condy, it has good chances from there on.

Hmm...well most of the threads I read state that the clown "eventually" gets eaten (how long it takes I'm not sure but they state that it ends up happening)...which is why I put pacific anemones with my clowns... but if some people have good luck with the match then I guess it's possible. I mean nothing is truly IMpossible.

What's the longest documented pair that you know of and do you have any links?

Would I have a better luck with a BTA? Considering I have 2 Ocellaris Clowns.

Trying to find something like that would be pretty hard. Not to mention I really don't feel up to it. Don't worry man. I get your point. I have also read condies end up eating clownfish but mine never did.
