I have him in a 100g corner aq.
two 96 watt actinics and two 250 watt 10000k MH

How much flow do these guys like? Seems to shrink with direct flow on it.

Do they like lots of oxygen (bubbles from pump that suck a little surface air from time to time)?

Light is plenty.
Moderate flow, tents gently moving.
I'm no ID expert, but I was also under the impression that purple column was Magnifica?

Looks like a nice Heteractis magnifica to me. Purple base with green tentacles and purple tips... Watch out as he can get very large, up to 1 meter in the wild... Looks to be in good shape, just needs to acclimate to your tank.. also likes moderate to strong water movement...

Good Luck...

STOP!!!!!!

That is absolutely, positively, not H. magnifica.

Purple and/or bright red are perfectly normal colors for the base/column of a BTA.
The tentacles and column on this anemone are textbook BTA.

Do cover intakes to your powerheads, BTA's often wander when initially introduced into the tank. If it ends up in a powerhead, it can shred it.

oh no! where's he going?

oh no! where's he going?

Yeah so now that the MH came on, he wants to hide. Looks like he is taking himself out from under the light, or away from his slightly new amount of flow. The bottom pic is where his foot has quickly moved too. I guess I will wait it out or should I do something?

If it is not too firmly attached, I would place it in a crevice that its tentacles will fill when it expands. If you let it find a spot on its own, it can take a while and lead to the anemone getting damaged.

How smooth of a rock does it's foot like?

It doesn't really matter. It won't be attaching to a rock you can see anyway. It will move its foot deep into the rockwork with only its tentacles showing. You likely will not see that beautiful purple base again once it gets situated.

Well there is where he has been for some time now. I hope he stays there and extends out to catch some light and open up.
You can see the rock in front where his foot was attached.

That looks exactly like the kind of place BTA's like to position themselves. It will likely do just what you want, extend out into the light as it acclimates to it.

Ok, I have had this anemone for a week now and it will not attatch to anything. When it does, it only uses a small edge of its foot. I came home and it was just sitting upside down. At night this thing is fully open and looks great.
What is going on? Help? Its gone from good to worse, shouldnt it be the other way around?
