what are signs should i look for to know when my anemone is getting better?

Settling into once spot and staying put, more color in the tentacles and oral disc, lengthening/expansion of the tentacles and oral disc, quick reaction to food.

ok it never moved from the place that i place him. i cant really tell if his color is getting better but it kinda look brighter buy not sure. tentacles always out since i got him but they are not that long maybe around 2-3 inches. i feed my fishes some brine shrimp the other day and a few landed on his tentacles but no reaction. and i don't know what an oral disc is so could u educate me plz.

Sounds decent so far. You expect the regain in color to take place over about 6 months if done correctly. Its a slow process. The oral disc is the mouth and area around the mouth. As long as it has a spot it likes, you feed it often and it has a good feeding response, the mouth stays closed and your water quality stays good it should do fine

Brine shrimp is really small and probably wont cause a feeding response. Try something a bit larger. Frozen kryll, silversides, and even large mysis shrimp like PE mysis should be good.

haha wow. this is wierd. I just saw your craigslist bay area posting to sell your true percs and totally recognized the picture of them with the anemone. lol

hahaha yea i posted them up im trying to get me a pair of picassos. what city u stay in calireefer?

well heres an update on the anemone. i fed it some mysis shrimp today and a few pieces was stuck on the tentacles then it kinda close a lil. i dont know if he ate the mysis shrimp though. i think the mysis shrimp was too small so i went into the freezer and got a frozen cocktail shrimp and cut a small piece and move it around it tentacles. it was stuck on his tentacles and it slowly started to move towards his mouth. it was there for about 5-10 mins but it didnt seem to be eating it. but the shrimp did kinda look smaller after he let go of it. i had to keep my clowns away from it cuzz it kept nipping at the shrimp. what should i do now? should i try to buy some other food and try that out? i want to try a feed it agian tomorrow with something else. and is it ok to leave the clowns in the anemone when i am feed it?

Was the cocktail shrimp cooked? Cause it needs to be a fresh uncooked/unpreserved one. I see the clowns picking at the food as a good thing. It helps to make the food feel alive, but if the food doesnt taste right the nem will just drop it eventually anyway. I usually feed my clown at the same time or just prior to adding the nem's food. Most of the time the clown will bring the food to the nem for me and stuff it in to save for later.

My large BTA takes in mysis just fine, I squirt it towards the mouth and the BTA closes right up on it. I usually do this after dark so the clown doesnt get too excited and eat the food.

The shrimp was uncook but I'm not sure if it was preserved or not.this is why I wanted to try feeding it something else today. Has anyone try to feed the nem grass shrimp? I can get a 1/4 for like 3-4 buck and they are alive.

Possibly would work, but I'd kill it first then give it to the nem. I think frozen silversides are the way to go due to price, availability, and ability to store frozen.

Yea I was gonna kill and peel it. Then just throw the rest in the freezer. Any kinda of vitamins or additives I should soak it in?

Im down in South San Jose. Picasso's would be siick. Def worth the money

i though u were from san ho. thats like fish central over there.
well today i fed the nem again but this time i wanted to try grass shrimp. i drove to the bait store to get some but there didnt have any so i went to the super market and bough some fresh shrimp. i got home chop it up (and threw a few pieces for my rbp) and fed my nem. this time i seen it bring it to its mouth and it ate it. i guess this is a good sign thats hes getting better. his color looks like it getting brighter too. but yesterday i seen the base of the nem and i guess it dug itself from the sand bed so i place him back and push the sand back on his base. and today about an hour after i fed him hes back out again. from what i read it isnt a good thing thats its moving. what should i do?

sup ya heres an update on the nem. it moved to the back of the tank for about a day or two now. his color looks a bit brighter now and he seems to be eating fine. but one of my clown is not letting the other one in the nem. the only time the other clown can go in the nem is when the lights are off. is this normal?
