I have a 54 gallong corner tank with a 30" Outer Orbit 130W PC....The tank depth is about 20".

DO you think I can get an anemone or do I need to upgrade my lights? I have good rockwork so I can pace it at different levels in the tank....What do you think?

I cant get that right now cause if I do then I would have to get a chiller too.....gonna be hot in CA in the next few months....

So even if I put it near the surface it wouldnt do well?

not to be the bearer of bad news but it would probably die. But I know what's its like to want to try anyways. The only anenome that has a chance of survival is a bubble tip up at the top of the tank. Also if your concerned about temps you could get a good t5 setup with good reflectors.

Are T5's good enough lighting for a BTA? I was going to go for the Current Sundial with 4x24W T5's but I went with this 130W PC cause I thought that it would be better....

So....your saying that T5's are bright enough for a BTA? Brighter then what I have now?

T5's are definately enough output for bta. Alot of people have t5s for their sps tanks also. The key to high output t5's is good brand bulbs and parabolic reflector. THe benefits are long bulb life, cooler temps and lower electric bills
I would switch lights and get a anenome before adding corals for lighting reasons mostly then also the anenome has a chance to settle in where it wants in the tank before placing corals

Damn I should have gone with the T5's when I set it up...o well I am going to upgrade soon...thanks for the input

Smalls, There are plenty of hardcore, experienced anemone keepers with different opinions about lighting requirements than those expressed in this thread. I don't want to start a flame war, but do a search and see what you find. Pay close attention to those with pictures. The proof is in the results..... not in some book chapter.
