Well, I finally got around to putting the photos on the web
http://picasaweb.google.com/FlightyMail
These are just the pics that have anemones in them and I have not organised than other than the order I took them in.

You can browse the album and I'll see if I can link some pics here for explanation or comments.

This album was our first dive. This was the only dive we saw a Mertains carpet. The thing was huge, the size of our coffee table.

Bad photo, but look at the size of it :eek1:

Next day we did a quick shore dive

<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/FlightyMail/Sept28/photo#4993385022310580242"><img src="http://lh5.google.com/FlightyMail/RUwROMGUABI/AAAAAAAAACQ/d6hTFZU2zhY/s288/DSC02329.JPG"></a>

Not sure if these were anemones or not. They were the size of diner plates

Finally got out to see the magnificas on the reef and the first one (two) was an obvious recent split. It looked like the tear had just healed over on both.

Yawn, bedtime, but I'll try to continue posting some explination and pics later. Feel free to browse all of the albums I linked to and ask questions.

awesome photos!! mind if i use one as a background??..lol.. did you notice any difference in the amount of tentacles the H. Mags had at different depths or location?? i noticed some in your photos had many many tentacles and some had noticeably less.. i wonder this because one of my H. Mags is very dense with tentacles the other has less as well..

Sure. I noticed that the ones in higher current had longer tentacles and tended to be larger and had a much floppier look to them, like cloth draped over the rock with tentacles hanging off.

I didn't notice a change with depth nessecarily.

Lotsa flow

Stiller water

<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/FlightyMail/Sept29/photo#4993385976597053458"><img src="http://lh3.google.com/FlightyMail/RUwSFvF8ABI/AAAAAAAAAEs/CgvWLS9w7Ng/s288/DSC02496.JPG"></a>

I also think the length of the tentacles is what made them look like they had more or less, not the actual density of them

One more post tonight

"Anemones should never be kept with SPS, they are never together in the wild and are incompatible in our fish tanks."

Hmmmm how many times have we heard that? Now lets play find the anemone... :p You can click on the pic and use the magnifying glass if you need to) There really is an anemone and clownfish clearly shown in this pic.

We were there about two weeks (or whatever that worked out to with time changes date lines and travel :) )

We brought a tent and camped the whole time on a small island off the northern tip of the main island. Nananu-i-ra.

The diving was spectacular. The corals, the fish, the sharks... breathtaking. I didn't upload any of those photos to that album yet, but WOW.

It cost so much less than it seems like a trip likt that should cost and it was the experience of a lifetime.

I can't recomend it highly enough.

I'm very crummy at IDing the tomato and clarki complexes. I was hoping someone else could ID them.

That Mertensii is huge! Your pics made me wanting to go back to Fiji:)
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
