Anemone playing dead?

My BTA has done this twice.. it almost looked DEAD and came back to life hours later like nothing happened. On this pic it shows the BTA with its mouth wide open (the dark spot is actually the tank glass) Its tentacles severely deflated, and the anemone looked like a total goner.

I left for about 2 hours and when I came back, to my surprise it's back to FULL HEALTHY appearance like nothin ghas happened

Is this normal for BTA's? BTW, my water params are near perfect since I keep SPS.

I would be careful, it seems from the second picture that it is getting close to the teeth of the overflow. And I am wondering why it is on the overflow and why it doesn't have its foot hidden in a rock crevice.

Also, how long have you had it? While I wouldn't call it bleached, it would be nice if the color was darker.

"near perfect" really doesn't tell me much, actual numbers would be nice.

thanks for the replies

I bought the anemone about two months ago. The color has always been like that since I bought it and hasn't changed. when I first bought it, it went through the 4 hours drip acclimation process and I let it sit on top of a LR. I woke up the next morning and it has already moved to that corner and hasn't moved since.

SG - 1.025 (variance of .002 max) per Refractometer
Temp - 80.0 (variance of +/- .5 daily) per RK2 / Pinpoint probe
pH - 8.25 at night and as low as 8.10 in the morning per RK2/Pinpoint probe
Ammonia - 0ppm (Salifert)
Nitrite - 0ppm (Salifert)
Nitrate - <2ppm (Salifert)
Ca 450 (Salifert)
Total of 70G water volume and 5G water change every week.
Lighting is 250w MH

So no one has had this experience before?

Great, that for providing all the numbers, everything looks to be in check. (( You will be surprised how many people will say "perfect" but not have the actual numbers ))

Once in a while mine will shirk down to darn near nothing --- expelling waste. So overall I wouldn't be too concerned. Though, I would be tempted to move it off the overflow, just wouldn't feel safe having it that close to the teeth of it.

And maybe it is just the angel of the first picture, but it almost seems like I can see the black of the overflow in the center of the anemone. Do you know if that is the case, or just the way the picture looks.

Your nem looks a bit unhealthy. It looks like a donut in first pic. I think that's the overflow... Is it always like that? It shouldn't be a ring like that...
