I have this BTA i added yesterday. After adding it started to poop(brown string from mouth) last night. Today it looks like the poop rolled up in a ball and still stuck in his mouth. Is this alright or somehow should it be attempted to be removed?
Just let it be, its probably stress n trying to acclimate itself to the new tank, might take days or weeks or longer depending on your takes maturity n parameters.
Brown string coming from a BTA is generally a bad sign. The nem is loosing zoo. If it starts inverting it probably has nem decline a bacterial infection. This is contagious and could pass to you other nem. If it starts inverting you should treat both anemone using the antibiotic protocol somewhere above.
But if it gets better your home free.
Sometime I removed those from my haddoni to prevent the water from going bad (if it's the poop). But you can just let it be.
If he shows signs of stress (frequently deflating/moving, etc.) Then it's under stress and it's trying to get used to the environment. Definitely leace it alone in this case because you don't want to put more stress on him.
The anemone looks healthy from the picture so I hope it will settle down soon and be happy in your tank!
I will provide picture/video when i get home from work today. however i think the anemone is doing fine. he has been fully inflated since i got him(not sure at night or while at work). Has nice bubble tips. has attached to rock and not moved since then. In addition the black ball was no longer there when i looked this morning. The disk looks a little pale but i will monitor over time.
I'd remove it. I actually had a perfectly healthy Malu anemone that ended up dying when a piece was on it like that. I had it in low flow and didn't really think anything of it. After seeing it was still there a few days later a removed it and it had rotted the tissue directly underneath it. I had the anemone for about 6 months and lost it after that.
I've successfully treated several BTA using Cipro. After a weeks treatment they are bleached somewhat. I guess I've had the opposite. My treatment programs have never failed.
