Anemone problem

I had an anemone die on me last week. I tested all my parameters (I thought) as I noticed it declining. However, I hadn't checked my salinity in my main tank for a while, only what I was adding during water changes. I gave on of my buddy's a hydrometer I had extra. I decided to test it, and found out by verifying with my refractometer that my salinity was 1.021. Do you believe this is what caused the demise of my anemone? I know it's a newb question, but would like to get it resolved quickly.

I realize the magnesium is low, and alk maybe a little high, but didn't think that would be enough to really affect the anemone.

1.021 isn't very bad. My guess is it's something else. How long have you had the nem? How old was the tank prior to getting the nem? If you just got the nem was it shipped to you? Or did it come from someone elses tank after a very short ride?

its hard to say, the magnesium is ~25% to low

The tank has been running for about 1 year, I got the anemone at a swap meet from a reputable coral dealer at a swap meet in mid-april. It was fine for quite a while when I first got it. Have you guys heard anything in the past about the magnesium being low to affect anemones? I thought it would just retard growth of corals if too low.

I'm not aware that anemone's require magnesium in any major amount. They don't aquire many minerals from the water. It comes to them from a food source sorta like humans.

Was the anemone being harassed by any of the other tank inhabitants? What do you have running for flow in the tank? Are there any other anemones in the tank?

The anemone was constantly being barrage by my maroon hold stripe clown. It was never more than a few inches. Also, I had a significant among of flow, maybe too much. I did cut it back when I thought that might ne a problem though. Think the clown pestered it too much.
