Anemone Question

I now have 4 bta's that started from one (Thanks LChase). They all have white stripes on their tentacles and slightly open mouths. I've been unable to get them to eat for months. Some of this may be due to a need for new bulbs (which I've replaced), and better water, (Now have a Typhoon III). They open up and look good, but the not eating thing is bugging me. I've tried mysis shrimp, real shrimp, silverside pieces, etc. They grab it nicely, hold it for a long time, move it to the mouth, but just won't put it in the mouth. Mouths look like a white bubble. Not gaping open at all, but a bubble protruding from center.

I tried the "search" function, which is worthless. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
Jason

The white bubble sounds like turning inside out, but it may be fine. They do some funny things that look odd but are considered normal. It depends if it gets better or worse from that point.

Not really getting worse. It's been this way for about 4 months now. Just trying to feed little amounts and keep the water and lighting in good shape.

Cybball,
You have the same lights I have so I don't think you need to feed them to keep them healthy. I haven't feed my RBTAs for many months and the are just fine. In fact I would stop feeding them unless you want them to continue dividing.

a lot of times they will pick up food out of the water column in tiny chunks - so if they are happy they are happy - but keep trying to feed it - maybe go with a smaller piece. try doing a google search for rob toonen from cali. His sites have a lot of good info floating out there on anemones!

Mine used to do that to before my tank was stable. Now that the PH swing is 8.1-8.3 and the temp only varies .05 deg he has not done it. I would maybe try not to directly feed it anything for awhile. Just feed your tank and since they are filter feeders they will get what they need from that and your light.

Exactly Bullet, I feed my tank cyclopeez and mysis wich I'm sure they filter. I stopped target feeding mine because I didin't want a tank full of RBTAs.
