Anemone removal?

There are many ways thrown around.
Massaging the foot, ice on the foot, attempting to get a corner of the foot up, powerhead blowing on the anemone, etc. I've seen one really stuck to some rock at the LFS, and they raised the rock slightly out of the water and massaged the foot just a bit and it fell right off.

I am in the process of switching to my new tank and put the anemone in a holding bin with the rock for the new tank and of course it jumped right onto the rock I need for the new setup.

Thanks for the help. I think I will marinate a few ice cubes in bourbon and then try one on the anemone.(a clean cube that is)

The easiest way I've found is to bring the rock to the surface and invert it over a basket or net or something to catch the nem in. With the nem fully submerged and the force of gravity pulling him down, he will start to loosen his hold a bit. When there is just a tiny bit of nem left holding on you can take the rock out of the water just a little bit and it will let go. You may have to hang him upside down for a half hour or so.

Dont take the rock fully out of the water while its still attached because you might damage the animal.

I will give it a go. The rock is two large rocks cemented together. I will have to figure out how to invert it without having it break apart.

I had anemones a few years ago, and I removed them with a combination of ice in a ziploc to loosen one edge and maxijet powerhead blowing at the loosened edge - takes a while.

I removed my anemone by lifting the rock to the surface, and flipping the rock upside down then massaging the foot until it fell off. it took some time but it came off.

Ice and and increased flow did not work for me. I couldn't remove the rock due to its location. I used a credit card and slowly + gently detached the foot from the rock. I was nervous that I damaged the anemone but it healed fine and is well. Good luck.
