How often is it ok for anemone shrivel up. mine seems to do it about every day every or every other day. I had him for about 2 months now. its and sebae anemone. There is a tomato clown hosting him. The clown is a little big for him but I never seen him beat up the anemone. The anemone has yet to move since I had him placed in a hole to hid his foot. My tank use to be in a 30 gal for about 2 years than transferred to a 55 gallon with 8x54W t-5 bulbs in may. the sump/fug has been up since about September. I do have GBT that got injured a day after i got him he has been in about late September. I have carbon running in my sump intake the water falls on it. I have a eshoops skimmer that works great. when the anemone is out he looks great awesome color and about 4-5 inches round. The only thing i can think of is the one anemone that got injured and secreting to much waste during the day. the GTB is finally showing color coming back in him since about 3 days ago. I will send up what i can for stats of the tank oh ya i do a 5 gallon water change every week with ro/di water. (and salt ) also i feed about 1-2 a week frozen raw shrimp or squid and he takes it like a champ.

The test kits I have show cal 420. salt at 1.023. ph 8.0-8.2 ammonia 0 nits both 0. I also had my water tested at the LFS and they had the three big ones (ammonia nits.) at 0.

I would bring your salinity up to 1.026 slowly. Can you post pictures of the anemone? What do you mean you placed the anemone in a hole to hide its foot? Is it on the rocks? If so why?

Well i know most anemones like to have their foot hidden from light. so i put him in a hole in the rocks. I mostly put him there because that's about where my clowns liked to stay. is .026 ok for corals too. I have a red mushroom, and leather toadstool. I will try to get a picture. I can get a before pick too. The first one is when i first got him. about two months ago ish. the second is the best i could get you can barely see him but in the middle is the hole and a little bit of bright green tentacles. tomorrow when i get home and he is out i will get a pic of him looking good.

dont know much about sebae anemones but i think shriveling once day is more than usual... salinity at 1.026 is the natural salt level in the ocean so its best for the anemone and corals as well... I cant really see the color of the anemone, but has it lost color or gained? have you fed it anything?

I've had a Rbta for 5 years. Different beast, but he deflates everyday, usually around the same time, about an hour before lights out on the tank.

How are you testing salinity? Hydrometers have been reported as not very accurate and I've personally tested two side by side and got different results. If possible, get yourself refractometer if you don't already have one.

I have a refractormeter. Ok I will slowly bring up the salt to .026 like say .001 every day or what. since I had him he has gained a good amount of color. Last time i fed it was on the 1st I was going today but ya he didn't look in the mood.

like this guy I have a condy and i know its different but it does the same thing every night it shrivels up and in morning it grows back to full size if that helps at all

Yes it does. I know anemones like to change there inner chemistry. I didn't know it was like everyday makes since though to flush out any ammonia they might accumulate. since we pee and ect everyday.

That is an BTA (( E. Quadricolor )), and it is way too small to be hosting those clowns. Going to have to either remove the anemone or the clowns -- until the anemone is 4 times the size of the clowns (( 4 times because you have a pair of clowns )). If things stay the way they are going, they clowns are going to "love" the anemone to death is short order.

that picture was from two months ago when i first got it. The anemone is bigger than that now. The smaller clown does not going into the anemone. I though it was a bubble tip but I never see it bubble. and than the purple tips on it look Sebae.

Mines shrivel up everyday also, it stays that way for a couple of minutes than looks normal. My water quality is in the ideal range. I guess it is something they just do. If this is a problem, please let me know.
