Anemone stung my hand

Yesterday while rearranging my rocks 2 tentacles from a Condy (purple tip)stung my hand.Later on it was really itchy all over front and back.Just wondering if that was normal and if anyone else ever got stung by an anemone before and what happened.

i touch my anemones all the time with my hands, and all that happens is the tenticles just stick to my skin.
but once, something fell behind my rockwork, behind my anemones, my magnificas mind you, and the tenticles brushed up against the soft fleshy part on the top of my elbow and i reached behind them.
ouch. quite the sting i got. multiple stings. i had terribly itchy welts on my skin there for the next month, with an annoying bee sting like pain for the next several hours.

perhaps you are slightly allergic, I have dealt with condy's a lot and never been stung, but most fish wont go near them. I has one eat a yellow tang once( no mean feat)

I have had the exact experience that Ron has. Try really hot water, that seemed to work better than the vinegar in my case, but a healthy mag will sting the heck out of any skin not protected by calluses or hair. Feels like an electric shock to me.

I also got stung on the front of my hand that caused a electric sensation a couple of weeks back,it went away shortly after. Thanks for the remedies,I'll give them a try.

I saw my Sailfin Tang swim into a couple of tentacles and it twitched like it was getting shocked and then swam off.He had the purple top stuck to its top fin for about half an hour.Thats when I realized I should be more careful around them hehe.

I can handle my BTA and RBTA very easily, I have a few stories with the condys.

I guess their not used to being handled...All they know is that whatever touches them its gonna be food :D

I have been stung severely by S. haddoni and S. helianthus (no others have ever been a problem). I used hot water and vinegar in an attempt to denature the venom and it seemed to work well, as the pain subsided fairly quickly.
