about 24 hours.. could it still be getting used to my tank? it moved around all night and has been in that spot since last night

What are your tank params right now?

If your low on phos/nitrates and your SG is good, the best thing you can do is leave it alone and keep an eye on it.

I have super good water quality and I got a nem about a month ago... mines deflated about 5-10% of the time. Usually for a few hours the day after I feed him. I just figured he was pooping. Also , one of my cleaner shrimp mess with him probably every other day, this may be part of it

If you have only had it for 24 hours then its just getting use to your tank. Its making a internal water change to match your tanks from the other tank that it was in.

When I feed my anemones they never deflate. They just puff up their mouths and and slightly close up slightly around the mouth like the center of the anemone is a hinge a hinge, but are back to normal in less than 2 minutes.

This is most likely the scenario as to whats going on. It would help to know a little more about your system though? Lights, water parameters, etc?

55 gal tank
4 48" t5 lighting
eshoppes psk-75h skimmer
1 k3 powerhead
paramaters:
ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-10 (just added fish, another waterchange this week will fix this)
pH- 8.2
temp-79F
salinity: 1.026

he opened up this evening.. still in the cave though. kinda the most depressing $40+ spent so far. hopefully he will move somewhere else soon enough and my clowns will host to it one day

I have about 9 RBTAs in a standard 55 with t5HO bulbs...aside from the slightly elevated nitrates, everything seems fine. I keep my salinity around 1.023 to 1.024..so yours may be a bit high...but everyone has their own. I've read that salinity should be between 1.021 and 1.025...but that's your decision.

As far as it deflating...mine deflate all the time. Some days we'll come hope and they all look like TOTAL crap! Next day..they're all looking as beautiful as always. Just give it some time and monitor your water. A partial change would be good...but don't change too much to quickly.

And it will move to where it's most comfortable. If you only have one powerhead, you may not have enough flow for him. I have a k2 and a k3 in my tank and probably don't have enough but thye all seem happy.

If you have any ?'s...PM me and i'll see what i can research.

Yes 5 times is way to much! Like you have he needs more light them food.

Brock-are those RBTA's all from a split? You ever sell any clones?

Blownz - yeah, I started out with one large RBTA..then bought several out of CA in a tank breakdown and since then, I've had one split into three and one split into two. I've sold maybe 6 and still have 9 or so...

Actually sold 2 this past Saturday and when I was breaking apart a rock, one of the larger ripped in completely in half...and believe it or not, both pieces will survive. Which is basically my point for ramt...good water and good light is 90% of the game with anemones!

And yes, I sell the clones.. :)
