anemone tank

I'm thinking of starting a nem tank. More then likely rbta. This would be a 40b with either a 40b or 29 sump. I know nems need a mature tank to survive and thrive, so how do I get there? All I would like it nems and two clowns, not sure what kind but somehong that would be hosted. Any advice would be great.

One of my favorite combinations is an RBTA with an Onyx Perc. However, for reasons that aren't entirely clear, some onyx lose their black coloration in BTA's and LTA's. So, my second favorite is RBTA with and dark black Clarkii. It gives a similar effect, and I think clarkiis have a lot of personality making them very interesting tank inhabitants.

I used to have a pair of the black-morph Clark's. Beautiful fish and they do indeed have a lot of personality.

You would start the tank like any other tank just as everyone else has said. Just take your time with the cycle period. I would recommend rose bubble tip or green bubble tip as your first choice as an anemone, they are really hardy and they often split naturally in the aquarium so you might be able to get one at a local reef club.

As far as the start, that is what I figured. What hosts pink skunk clowns? I have one working on finding a second that I would like to use if I can. I've seen them in lta but not sure about bta or is there a different natural host?

I have a mated pair of pink skunks and they are very happily being hosted by my two large RBTA's, They have been for almost two years now. I also have a mated pair of true percs on the opposite end of the tank that are being hosted by a large mushroom rock.

Clowns will host everything from anemones to powerheads.

I agree that they will go to anything they want. This tank would specifically be a nems tank. No other corals in it. Cool to see your skunk in a rbta.
Do your clowns seem to get along or not? I was entertaining the idea of the skunks in with my false percs in the 120, but got mostly told they would fight.

There is an invisible barrier about midway the length of the tank. Neither pair of clowns will ever cross that line. When I feed, I need to feed both ends of the tank otherwise one pair will never get food. My experience tells me that different types of clowns will NOT get along with each other. Maroons and Tomatoes are particulary mean towards others.
