Anemone that doesn't move around?

Hey, can anyone tell me if there is any particular specie of anemone that doesn't move all around the tank stinging my other corals? Maybe a carpet anemone or something? I have had bad problems with anemones in the past and had to get rid of them but would like to get one for my clown fish if I know for sure it won't move around stinging all my corals. Thanks

In my experience anemones move around until they find a place where they are comfortable. I would check things like water flowing too hard against them, or lights that are past their prime. In my tank, I let the anemone pick a spot and arrange other things around it. Hope that is helpful.

All anemones have the ability to move around the tank, its one of the things that make them unique.

Give the anemone the conditions that it requires and the odds are great that it won't move. It sounds simple, and most of the time it can be, but there are occasions when finding out what is "off" can be difficult.

Right - ANY anemone will move around if it isn't happy, so if you don't have any tolerance for movement, they're probably not for you. Learn about the particular kind of anemone you're interested in purchasing, what it does/doesn't like and start out by placing it in a spot that meets its needs rather than somewhere that's convenient for YOU. If it does move, do your best to work around it rather than forcing it to move again.

I've had crispas move the least out of the (few) species I've kept, but I imagine for every success story there are a dozen disasters....

Your best bet to avoid anemones stinging corals is to get an anemone (like S. haddoni) that prefers the sand. Then if it moves, it tends to move around down low in your tank (sparing your corals). Likewise, if you get an anemone that prefers to be on a rock pile (like H. magnifica) you will be fighting an uphill battle unless you have a very large tank and can offer a dedicated rock setting.
