Anemones and my tank

I have 2 different kinds of clown fish. 1 is a nemo kind and the other is 2 stripe with more maroon then orange. When I got the tank the maroon clown had a anemone that he was hosted to. After I moved the tank it died. My question is how do I keep them alive? I have tried 2 so far they were the cheap guys, just wanted to see if I could get them to live in my tank. The first died in 3 days, that was my fault I didn't acclimate him right. The second looked great for over a week, moved around a lot but looked good. I just upgrades my lighting and would like to try a another anemone. What anemone would host the easiest with my clown? And whats the best way to acclimate them?

your tank needs to be six months old, or older, way too soon for an anemone

Anemones are very difficult to keep in an aquarium long term. Their lifespans are cut down dramatically in a captive environment versus what they would have had in the open ocean. Keeping up with your water quality checks and maintaining proper parameters are important. This is not to say people have not kept them successfully, many people have had their BTAs and such for years. I am sure one of the more experienced owners will chime in and give better instructions


One note though...a 55g corner is a little small for two clown fish of different species. Eventually one will kill the other

Yeah I have found out a lot about the tank when I got it. I also have to tangs yellow and brown. I am shocked that they aren't killing each other as well. I know the tank was around for 7-8 months before I got it. When I transfered everything the only thing I lost was the anemone.

Here's a few pics I forgot to say I have a anemone in there now don't know what kind here are a few pics of my clowns and that anemone. Also does anyone know what type of mushroom this is?

Looks like a rock flower anemone (Epicystis crucifer?) to me
