anemones and super current? or should i unplug it?

i added 2 maxi jet 600's today and removed a weird bulky pump that the tank came with

the anemone moves at night about every two days (stays in a spot two days then moves to a new one)

well right now as i type she is RIGHT next to the water flow and she is getting hit with really strong water flow, should i unplug the pump for the night? (getting sucked up is not the issue, and they are covered) its getting blown away im concerned about!!

what kind of anem? got a picture. Some anem like condi's tend to wander no matter what you do others usually stay put. Two maxi-jet 600's isn't a lot of flow so something makes me thing its a condi. I would shut the PH off until the anem gets a firm footing and then turn them back on.
I have my BTA's dealing with a turnover of 30-40x per hour with no problems.

its a bta. she wont stay put... i ended up unplugging it. she had a maroon host, i had to qt the fish, and now the bta looks 1000 times better...

It may not even be the flow that has caused it to move alot, two maxi-jets in a 45 gal. tank is not what I would call alot of flow. but you said it yourself, you put the clown in QT and now the nem looks better. Clowns, especially Maroons, Clarkis and others can be brutal on nems. So what size is the fish and what size is the nem? what kind of lighting do you have? what if anything are you feeding it?

seaflowers. whoo.. i had this post almost done and i had a power outage!! only lasted a few minutes but it sure puts your head in check!!

long post this is about to be...

I know it isent the flow that makes it move alot.. I barely had ANY flow, just the pump the tank came with. I mod'ed my tank yesterday, ripping off the whole back/top, adding to of the maxi 600's and a skimmer and a lil wave maker. (Is this enough current?? not sure...) It moved right to the output and looked to be getting beat up!

I feed it silverslides mostly, every 3 or 4 days, depending on when I can reach her with the turkeybaster/giant tweezers

lighting factory odysea pc lights, 240 watts total, 2 white 2 blue. I dont think its enough, my lfs thinks im nuts and says they are GREAT lights.... its a 45 gallon tank.

I have a problem with the 'how big is the anemone' question.... I have a few pics...

here it is as big as it can get.... this was taken as soon as the lights came on last week

but sometimes it looks like this.. more often about this size... (far left of pic)

it had bubble tips the day i got it, then never had them agian.. until the day i took the fish out, then it got bubbles in its tips tight away!!!


so why is my anemone moving seems to be your question....

well. im a newb.. and my parimeters are not stable. Im getting a firm grip on it, but its been a rough ride.
i dident have a skimmer till last week. i bought a gravel vac and my nitrates spiked really high.
so i started testing and my ph was low.
with this barage of problems, i was using a hydrometer and thought it was 1.025 but my tmp is 82 and so my real salinity was like 1.029.... so i had to lower it,... (did it as slow as i could)
the temp is 82... because of this darn 'all in one' system, and had a completely enclosed top. since removing the top/back, ive opened it up a bit and the heaters coming on more, so i think i can start to lower my temp.. but i want to just keep it stable for now until my nirtates lower.....

so with all my problems, its no wonder my anemone is unhappy.
it eats and is sticky, and it moves as SOON as i turn off the lights, and doesent move far, in the morning shes always got her foot crammed into the cracks of rocks.. so I think shes healthy.

And Im studyng and asking TONS of questions so I can do my best. I got my refractometer yesterday, and the skimmer last week... I added more flow.. (please let me know if you think i need more) I got my ph up, my salinity down.. No nitite or amonnia. Im trying here. i bought an anemone before i was ready, and now its like im cramming for finals lol

money and time are no object, i just need to learn

my anemone hasent stopped moving since i got her. She does act healthier now that my maroons in qt, but i feel like i have to protect her now because the fish isent. ive caught hermits stealing her silverslide out of her mouth the last 2 times shes been fed (i re feed her and fend off the crabs till shes done)

so lastnight she practically sat on the water outake (if you want to call it that? lol) and thats where she decided to stay. i unplugged it because she was soo close she was really getting beat on by the water.

heres a pic of my tank i took yesterday after the remodel. (btw.. i dont plan on touching or moving anymore rocks ever!!! lol i had to because the built in puimp i ripped out had rocks on it/agianst it, and i ended up moving everything. (anemone wasent put in any harm, dident even have to touch her chosen rockjof the day)

not a single fish oh.... you might be wondering why the qt? ptobley from all the stress i asumme... she ended up getting a bacteria infection... i caught it on the first day! but it took me 2 more days to diagnose it (with all the help from rc) I almost lost her, she was on the suface of the water, swelled up face, white lips, holes in her fins, dident eat for 4 days.) with copper and maracyn 2, she sooooo wants her anemone back. she looks GREAT! continuing treatment like im supposed to, then another 4 weeks qt.. shes so cute, she has a plastic cave, and she spits food at it like she did th anemone

oh... the rest of the powerheads are wrapped with plastic now, just took the pic before i remembered to do it. anemone is protected

i dont want 'so much flow' i want the right amount of flow... im asking for help lol it doesent seem like alot of flow.....

to much flow would make it move. it should find a spot were its com. mine only ever moved once

I donno, it makes me so nervous im apt to waking up 3 am to make sure its not being sucked up by evil powerheads n junk. id like it to pick a spot.. but surely it'll be the back side where i cant see it if i wish hard enough
