Anemones dying

About 2 months ago I had two bubble tip anemones in my tank and then I bought a big green carpet. Within days the 2 white ones were dead. 2 weeks ago I bought another white Bubble tip and It hasnt opened up yet. I read somwhere that they can kill each other just secreting chemicals into the water.
Is this true? And if so why wouldn't the LFS say something ? They knew what I had, I told them. I have been to every (reputable ??) FS in MD and I think they are all in it to make a buck.
I think he's going to die, But I hope someone has some advice.

Pardon my ignorance if I'm unaware, but what is a "white bubble tip"...never heard of that? I've heard of green, rose, rainbow, lemon drop and sunburst bubble tips...but not white?

Either way, carpet nems can be much more "toxic" than bubble tips. Not sure how that would play out unless they were touching? Just need more info to give an educated guess. ;)

It Looked (Past Tense) white to me. Bu that shouldn't matter. It was the fact that he was dying , that I was trying to get help with . And to be more knowledgeable, so that I don't make the same mistake again.
Does anyone know if putting different types of anemones in the tank will cause this?
Thanks

I keep malu, magnifica and haddoni in the same tank and all get along well. I know of other anemone keepers who also keep mags and haddoni together. I've never kept BTA's with other species though so can't really comment from first hand experience. However, I've read on other threads where BTA's do seem to be affected somehow by the presence of other host anemones in the same tank. So you may (?) be onto something or it may simply be that your white BTA's are simply bleached/not in the best of health anyway and the introduction of the green carpet and their demise is a coincidence. If you want to pursue this theory you would be better obtaining a BTA which has come from another tank and is known to be healthy ie a clone.

If the anemone is "white," that's most often an indication that it is unhealthy.

+1 you can keep carpets with BTAs, but only if you start with healthy anemones. They may fight using chemicals (allelopathy), but if they are all healthy and the tank is healthy, they will almost always eventually get past it.

BTW I am speaking from experience; I have a Haddoni, 2 Magnificas, 6 Maxi Minis, and 4 BTAs all in the same tank. Actually there are several more anemones, but you get the point. :)
