Anemones in 10g

I don't know hardly anything about anemones but could a certain species be put in a 10g? I would really like to have one.

a BTA might be okay in a 10g tank for a while, but inevitably it would outgrow your tank and you'd have to get rid of it.

Another problem would be maintaining the water quality and stability that an anemone would need. Granted, BTA's are more tolerant of changes and less than ideal, but the swings that a 10 would go through might make it a little more challenging.

I'd have to agree, 10 for an anemone just wouldn't do it. Not just cause the nem would die, but also you would be waisting your money on something you wouldn't be able to enjoy.

Not a good idea at all, please do a lot of research on anemones before you buy.

This is an excellent site for BTA's:

I seen plenty of 10g rigs with BTA & clowns that would even split pretty often. Not the first tank setup I would suggest but can be done.

I want a BTA pretty bad, but since the only tank I have up right now is a 10g, I haven't gotten one. It will outgrow it quick.

You can try and frogspawn, torch, or hammer. Clowns have been known to pretty regularly host in those.

Not uncommon, BTAs will split often do to stress.

Frogspawn are generally considered to have the worst "sting" of the Euphyllia group but they all do sting.

I can't really recommend any clown hosting 'nem for smaller than a 20g. Clowns will sometimes go for leathers and mushrooms as well... they may just go for a powerhead instead, never know with clowns.

Well, you could keep mojono's, they're pests but can be pretty...

Both S. tapetum ("mini carpet anemones") and tulip anemones would be fine in a 10 gallon aquarium. If you provide adequate lighting and stable water parameters the larger S. tapetum variant would be ok as well. None of those are particularly suitable as a clownfish host though.

I know the tulips wouldn't. The biggest they can get is a wee bit bigger than a quarter.

My question is that I was thinking of putting my maj, er, tulip into a different spot. It isn't a fan of the "tank" I have it in now. Would it be okay in my sump when I get it set up? The only way it would be able to get into the main tank is through an overflow and the pipes connected to that. BUT the issue is that if it got into the main tank it would land on my open brain =/ How DO they grow anyway? Some people say only slightly less of a bother than aiptasia, others say they've had them in the main tank for years with no splitting, wandering etc.
