Anenome help!!!

I went to bed last night without a care in the world, took some pics of my anenome and clown to put in a photo bucket deal. And woke up to a nightmare, lol. My anenome appears to be dying? Please check out these pics and let me know what is up, is he just moving or what is the deal I fed him last on Thurs, ate well no probs and was to feed again tomorrow. I noticed that some of the tentacles appeared to be bruised looking on the outer ring last night, but they looked that way when I bought it and got better, so I didnt think much of it.

Please look at these pics and let me know what u think!

I would honestly say that it's fine. Anemones will close up like this from time to time (at least from my experience). If it doesn't open back up by tomorrow, I'd be worried.

How long have you had it? It might take a little time for it to adjust to your lighting as well, if it's stronger than what it's used to.

I've had it since the fourth of the month, and didnt realize they did this, so imagine my surprise, lol. Thanks. And FYI i checked the levels the day before and all normal ranges

anemonies do this to expell waste. I know that when this happens they look pretty sad but they should "poof" back up soon. If it doesnt recover fairly quickly then i would begin to worry. (after a day or so)

He looks good to me. He has just retreated into that rock. His tentacles are inflated and he has good color so I would say that he is fine. Mine hid in the rocks often.

It's a nice anemone...don't worry it is just flushing the water in it's system to bring in clean water. This is fairly typical for BTA's

I really like that clown without the stripes Freshbrew. What are those called? Todd had mentioned awhile back that he saw one at Pet Paradise but I forgot what he called it.

Just a thought, but I have heard that at times of stress BTA can divide. I don't think this is the case however it has happened to me. I came home to a that BTA that looked similar only to have it retreat deep into the reef. 3 days later low and behold 2 BTA. Great return on investment. I too agree with the above posts as it will do this at times and drive the poor owner nuts. Long live the anemone.

I'm really not sure what it is, I haven't been able to find one like it on the internet to get it's real name, but I think Todd told me it is a Cinnamon clown fish, but I am not sure, the ones I have seen on the internet all have the stripes on them as well. Maybe it's a genetic anomoly. It is prob the one you saw at pet paradise, because that is where I picked it up. In regards to the Anenome, it seems to be fine, still doesn't look as good as it did, but is puffing up and stretching out through a different hole in that same rock. Thanks for all the advise and I am hoping for a split, LOL

Again, your anemone is just fine, and the clown is referred to as a cinnamon or sometimes a cinnamon tomato. If you look for info on keeping tomato’s, you will be just fine.

I would like to thank everyone for their help, and of course you guys were right. The anenome moved itself to protrude from another opening in the rock, which does not please me esthetically but it is alive and prob knows better what it needs. I picked up a mimic tang and a lawnmower bleney tonight as well and am happy to report all are doing well, thanks again.

I have a book that has a variant of Amphiprion melanopus (Cinnamon Clown) with no stripe. Also, it looks similar to Amphiprion ephippium (Saddleback Clown). It is a nice BTA too.

Oh thanks, I should pay more attention, but there is so much to learn! Thanks for everyone's help and I'll see you guys on the 20th unless we get another blizzard!
