I have a big ritteri anenome about 7 inches across when fully open and its always moving around my tank. I have moved it around where I wanted it a couple of times, but it keept moving and moving anyways. It found a spot and its been there for a couple of weeks now, but its really not a good spot. And there is litle flow where it is. How do I get it to stay in one spot? Where should it be in terms of lighting?
Thanks

You cannot, it will move where it wants to regardless of where you position it. What type of lighting do you have in your aquarium and fyi a 30 will be way too small for ritteri's long term but would be perfect housing for a bta dependent on what other equipment you have in your aquarium.

Probably two power compacts than which probably isnt adequate to light this light demanding species. Ritteris anemones are difficult to maintain in captive settings as they tend not to ship well. ideally you would want him as close to the lights as possible to maximize the amount of PAR he is receiving. Feed the anemone at least once a week with finely shredded meaty foods such as krill or squid.

H. magnifica need very bright light and good water movement. If it does not have these, it will continue to move, often get kill by PH, overflow, or heater.
The recommended environment for H. magnifica is under at least 150 W MH. The point light source cause it to stay at one place. Moving away from the light result in quick drop off of light intensity. Movement of this anemone is lessen if you put it on a pedestal type rock arrangement with a smooth wide top rock. Moving down from the pedestal will result in lower current and light. If you set the tank like this for this anemone and give it adequate light and current, it will stay there where you put it.
I always have good luck keeping them in the place I want by follow this type of arrangement. Mine is right under a 150 W MH a few inches under the water level.
