Hi Reefers,
I have a problem that's stumped me. I have a 30 gallon set up as a fish only with live rock and some leather growing in it. There is about 40 lbs of live rock, 1 inch of substrate, T-5 lighting, a 10 gallon sump with bio-balls. In addition to that I have a 15 watt Aqua UV Sterilizer on the system. I've been trying to keep either a single Dwarf angel or even a pair of small angels. Before I get attacked for keeping them in a small tank, it will only be temporary before they go into my SPS tank. I've tried 2 different coral beauty angels, 4 small flame angels, and most recently a small Multibar angel, (p. multifasciatus) (*Keep in mind not at the same time obviously) They all acclimated fine, ate and slowly over the course of a month or two, withered away. They slowly stop eating and eventually die.
In the tank with them are a yellow coris wrasse, and a solorensis wrasse. Along with a cleaner shrimp, and a diadema urchin.
Any ideas as to what might be going on? When they are dead, there are spots, marks or any noticeable signs. Also it has been established for about a year. I run RO water in the system at about 1.022. The wrasses and shrimp have always been fine but whats wrong with the dwarf angels?
I'm no stranger to angels, I have a Red Sea Regal, a harem of Argie (Atlantic Cherub Angel), and a Venustus Angel in the SPS tank. I've had them all for a while, they've been taught to, or learned accepting pellets and flakes.
Thanks for any input,
Billybloo
