My zoas and clam didn't survive the nipping, but the majority of my SPS did! I just need to be good with keeping my tank healthy. I tend to overstock, so it's not very forgiving when it comes to skipping water changes. If I get lazy (e.g., have my Ca reactor offline for too long), my sensitive SPS corals will show signs of stress and the angels + my tinkeri hybrid will go to town on them. The hardier SPS (digitatas, birdsnests, stylos) are unphased. My acroporas will exhibit slower growth with all the nipping, but I can live with that. Started the hobby as a coral junkie. More and more now, I enjoy the fish!
My stock list includes:
Angels:
1) Multibar Angel - wouldn't eat prepared foods for the first 3 months in my tank. Would just nip on my rocks. Now will eat mysis, brine, and capellin roe.
2) Regal Angel - Had him for 12 months now. Prefers pellets over frozen. Silly guy.
3) Venustus Angel - Can't see it in this photo, but it does swim out confidently. Would only pick at the rocks the first month, but now loves eating frozen, especially the roe. He was barely an inch when I got him. Has grown about .25" in the past 2 months in my tank.
4) 3 Bellus Angels - my favorite of the genicanthus angels. Slow growers. I've had them in my tank for about 1.5 years now, and they have gotten so fat that they look like swimming golf balls, but they have only grown maybe about 1/2" in length. Completely reef safe in my tank. Not in the photo (guess I should have posted a FTS, rather than a left side only shot).
Butterflies:
1) Tinkeri Hybrid - I picked up this guy from PIA. Came in really thin, but bulked up really fast. Eats like a pig - also likes picking at my corals unfortunately.
2) Full Tinkeri - Also from PIA. Didn't know how to eat from the water column for the first 2 months in my tank (I broadcast feed with pumps on for my anthias). Lost a bit of weight, but gained it back once it figured how to eat from the water column. Picks at corals, but not as fervently as the hybrid.
Interesting enough, my LPS (war coral, and a handful of chalices) are pretty much left alone.
