Kinda look like a wartskin angler...antennarius maculatus with a bunch of coloration. How big are they?

Here are some better pics. The first 3 are of the same one. I would say about 2.5 - 3 inches

New Guinea frogfish - Antennarius dorehensis

It does not appear to be a New Guinea and by your measurements it's already bigger then the maximum size for one. Can you get a picture of its esca and maybe a little more closeup picture.

None of them are a A. dorehensis. I have one and they're tiny. I've had mine for over a year and it's about the same size as my thumb and hasn't grown at all. Their lure is also extremely distinct and it looks exactly like the picture posted on www.frogfish.ch. It is a downward pointing lump and I think it's one of the only species that does that.

Frogfish #1 and #2 are definitely either A. coccineus or A. nummifer. I'd have to have a better shot of #3 to give a decent ID attempt.

Thanks for the info..The pic with all 3 and the numbers, was a one shot pic. By the time I came back they were all seperate. I do have one more pic Ill post, I forgot on my phone. I rotated the pic so people wouldnt have to turn there heads. You can see the other one in the background. He is in post #4.

Thanks again for the replies.

Sorry I wouldn't feel comfortable taking a guess on #3. I'm fairly confident with the IDs I made on #1 and #2 though. Well as confident as I can be without seeing their lures.

Hey..Thanks for all the info. #3 is that possibly a different Frogfish.... WOW its tuff to id these guys..IMO...lol

Thanks Again

They look like the angler I have, I have no clue what mine is though...I do have a picture of mine with it's lure out, if that helps you at all.

My angler is about 3 inches (~7.5cm)

Now thats coooool. Thanks for the help with pic. Hopefully they check back in for some replies. Does he roam the tank or hide alot? Were you able to train him on feeding? Any other info on how your keeping him. Thanks

Thanks! no problem at all, maybe we could both get ID's now :D

I've had mine about 4 months, right now he lives in the Refugium of my 90 gallon system until I decide what system of mine he will do best in.

He doesn't really move around a lot, he likes to hang out IN the macro algae, I've got some pretty large pods running around in there and I think he hunts those in between feedings. I use a bamboo kebob stick to feed him krill, I also toss in a peppermint shrimp or two a month for variety, it's cool to watch him hunt and I think he enjoys it. Really the only time he moves is when he sees me with the feeding stick.

There is a huge frogfish thread on here that is pretty informative, just do an RC search on Frogfish and it should be easy to find.
