The water is much much clearer today. Here are some pics I just took. I got a couple top down shots of the chromis swimming. I love how easy it is for me to access the top of the tank. Anyways on with the pics.
I'm experimenting with LEDs for my actinics. I tried the PowerBrites but they are too blue and my pics come out crappy when shooting under it. So now I am trying out a different LED lighting that is not as powerful as the PowerBrites. It gives a nice even look but it completly washes out when the halides are on or if I open my window and the sun is shinning on the tank. I might stick with this for a bit and switch to T-5s. Here are pics of the LEDs and Lumenbrights in the hood. I know wires hanging everywhere but I'm not done with it yet.
Thanks for the kind words fellas! I am loving the rockwork myself . Lots of caves nooks and crannies for fish to swim and hide in. You can't see it in the pic but there is a canyon running from left to right in the middle half of the tank. I get excellent water flow through out and in between the rock work. It somewhat worked out as I planned. All the debri in the back of the tank is being pushed from left to right with Tunze 6101 on a controller strait towards the OFB and into the sump (well most of it). Now I got to wire up my halides and after that I wil lstart working on setting up my 3 refugium and frag tank(s). One will be macro Algea fuge 2nd will be Xenia fuge and 3rd will be my clam fuge. I'm trying to naturally filter and export nutrients as naturally as possible without to much chemicals.
Here is a few pics I jsut took to give you an idea of how deep the tank goes. The six line wrasse is at the sand barrier that is about 18'' so the are 18'' of bare bottom in the back and plenty more room for fish to swim in and out of.
Thanks Brook! I'll get more pics up soon. nothing to really photograph except rock and a few fish. I won't be adding any of my SPS for a few months and I'll probally start adding my LPS in about a month.
Thanks! It came out better than I thoght it would. I can't wait to get more fish and corals in there. I'm so tempted to move everything from my 40b but that would not be too smart of me. Gotta let the tank fully cycle before any corals goes in there.
Thanks for the compliment! The rock work is not attatched at all. I used alot of branch rock for the base so I have multiple points of contact with the glass. It is very stable and sturdy. I made sure of it by trying to push the rock work around and it doesn't budge at all.
Also to some of the rock that is on top are very light and I place certain types of rock loose that are really thin and shelf like to place my encrusting montis on so that way I can easily take the rock out for fragging or move them to a place where they can't encrust onto the other rocks.
