anomone hosting with clown

Hey everyone,
i have had my tank set up and running now for about 6 months with just fish and recently i decided to get a condy anomone for my tomato clown, the guy at the store said it should host my tomato clown but its been two weeks now and still has yet to host my clown is there something i need to do to get them together or is this just a bad choice of anomone for the tomato clown?

As mentioned, Condylactis is not a natural host for any species of clownfish. They are found on opposite sides of the earth. My suggestion is research animals online, such as on RC or WetWebMedia rather than listening to lfs staff. It seems the majority of them aren't especially knowledgeable about anemones. You can read about the species you have by searching for Condylactis gigantea (or C. passiflora). Anemone is spelled like the flower, btw.

+1 on the previous posts however i have seen clowns host a number of non-anemone corals and even pieces of equipment like power heads. so it is possible that it will host in the condy.

to this post my tomato always at night goes up underneath my power and stays there i thought it was just its hinding spot does this mean he has hosted with the powerhead? and if it has will it ever try to find a new host?

That's just his choice of sleeping area. There's a good chance if you got an anemone that was a compatible pair for your clown , he could go visit it.
( i've seen maroon clowns host condy's but never a tomato ) and even then it was rare.

in my experience i've had better luck getting tank raised clowns to host when they are added to a tank with anemone's present, rather then adding an anemone after the clown.

Try rearranging your rock work when you add the nem, it might make the clown less comfortable and seek out the nem for safety.

so my ft guy said if i didn't like the anemone i could take it back to him and exchange it for something different as long as i didn't damage it and it was brought back in good condition should i take it back and get a bubble anemone then? or not worry about finding a host for my clown?

You will have to discuss that with him. I doubt he will admit he is wrong. A bubble tip is a natural host for your clown so you could try one. Please research an anemone before you buy one. If you have any questions about your tank being ready for a nem please ask.
