Another AEFW ID

This weekend, will be going on three weeks... seen absolutely nothing, basted and nothing. Colors, growth, everything has been insane and have had to increase alk multiple times...

With this couple weeks, I've been able to get my frag tank up, and started cycling last night along with a 10G QT SPS tank I'll be setting up in case they come back. I'm hopeful and cautiously optimistic but I know these guys are evil.

Thoughts anyone? Am I nuts to be positive at this point? I know they take 2-3 weeks to hatch, so I'm getting to that point though.

I think they are likely still in the system as infested as that one Acro was. It may take time for them to build back up in numbers you'll see if you had a low population that was relatively concentrated to one piece.

For sure the odds are against you, but continue to be diligent and baste frequently. Maybe you got lucky, but if I were a betting man, I'd lay good odds that you have them present still.

That's what I'm figuring, hence why I'm glad my frag tank is cycling... the quicker I can get it ready to handle my pieces, the better I will feel. You would think that even in small numbers, wouldn't you see something in terms of damage?

Like I said, holding out positive optimism, but being a realist. Like you said, I may have just gotten lucky, found the one piece before they got anywhere else. There's a LOT we do not know about these bastards, so no one knows for sure how they spread, multiply to a large extent.

Thanks, it's good to see we are beginning to get some actual information about these evil things, along with the good AEFW studies from folks here on RC. There's a ton we don't know about these things, but good to read what it is available.

I continue to baste, and see nothing so far... we're at three weeks now.

Thoes things will hide behind the ONE acro you cant pull out, like they know you cant pull it so they hide behind it lauging at you. Its very hard to see them if you have a one sided tank and they are in small numbers. Thats why i like my sps tanks set up viewavle from front and back. I agree with flamron that they are there somewhere. I had better luck doing STRICT dipping from the tank weekly than i did setting up a quick, small, unstable qt tank.
Good luck, and stay levelheaded. Its not hard to control or irradicate them once you know they are there. Just stay on top of them with basting and even weekly dips of infected pieces until your wt tank is stable.

Thanks. I'm ready to fight the battle... I'm basting anything that looks like it needs to be basted, and so far, three weeks today, nothing... everything is growing nicer than ever.

Whatever needs to will be removed, dipped, and either thrown away or if its important enough, go into my QT\frag system that just started cycling this week.... it couldn't come fast enough!

Honestly if you pull every acro and dip it once you would have a better chance of them being irraticated. Since its been about the right time for the eggs to have hatched, and you will also get a better look at exactly what your acros look like.

Well it's been almost six weeks now, and have seen nothing. Growth is better than ever, colors are better, and P\E is wonderful.. I'm keeping my eyes peeled daily.
