This is the second baby urchin that i have pulled out of my refugium. The first one was about a week ago and it looks to be a baby short spined urchin, it's body is about the size of a small marble. The new one that I found over the weekend looks to be a baby pink rose urchin, about the same size. I wonder If i'll find any more. The LR that is in the refugium was pulled from off the coast of Flordia(aquacultured) during winter when the water was about 55 degrees, Could these have been in larval form and have been wating for "spring" temps to emerge and start growing?

Pretty cool. More than likely the tiny urchins hitchhiked as juveniles. I dont believe the larvae can just hang around and wait for conditions to be right, they either settle and live, or die.

I was just curious, because I scoured throught the rock when i got it, and these little guys are hard to miss. The rock has been in the system for about 3 months now and I am just now seeing them, so I was wondering where they could have been hiding. the rock doesn't have a lot of holes for them to hide in.
