Another Canadian Reef! 600 gallon Penninsula!

Understood, maybe consider having 4 MP60's Two on each side, one on top and the other one on the bottom, they have enough strength to push water that far.

Good luck, will keep following along.

Yes I agree. You read my mind. The dry column design is perfect for the MP60s and why I decided to design it that way. There will be plenty of room to mount the motors in the columns. I don't have any mp60s yet, but should I decide to get some, the tank is ready for them. The only things I don't like about them is you can't direct the propellers.

Wow, looks like a fun project to watch! Very nice looking house, and great idea on the power head hiding and cord management. Keep up th great work!

I'm looking forward to seeing this completed. I like dry column idea. Might have to use that when I get my tank built.

Congrats Cougman..... No wood tank this time. Hahaha How is your fish collection I remember you had a nice collection of fish too....

Thanks. i'll try to take lots of pics during the whole build.

Thank You. I have to admit. I got the dry column idea from the owner of a local fish store. They've done tanks like this before. It is the perfect solution to what I'm trying to achieve with powerheads.

Hi Erics3000. The fish collection is much reduced, but doing fine. I will post some pics soon. I traded/sold/gave away most of my large tangs, 3 of which are now living in Nineball's 1350 gallon tank. I kept most of the smaller rarer tangs to stock this new tank.

I really enjoyed your last tank, and look forward to watching this build!

I designed my 370gal tank with an external overflow box as can be seen here

I made it only 12" deep (in the vertical plane) to make it easier to catch the inevitable creature that makes it into the overflow. My tank is 30" tall and I know there is no way I would have been able to reach the bottom of the overflow had I made it 30" deep, especially with all the plumbing.

You may want to keep your dry boxes as they are, but change the depth of the main overflow to make internal access easier

But then again, as I look where your tank will be positioned, this might not work too well for you unless you have an access panel through the wall (for tightening bulkheads, etc...).

its awesome to see another large canadian tank!! im form London and love daytrips to the gta fishstores you sure are lucky to be so close by to all the selection

if you ever need to get rid of frags let me know

Thanks for joining in haffs09. I think you're correct. It'll be difficult to get down to the bottom of the overflow. I'm planning to have two 2 inch drains in the overflow, so hopefully any fish small enough to get in the overflow will eventually make down to the sump area where I can retrieve them.

My original design was to have an external overflow like your tank. However when I heard about the dry column design, I felt it was perfect for what I wanted to achieve.

Thanks Shawn. Right now my sps are taking a heavy hit being in the holding tanks in my garage. I may only have a few frags to start over with when I finally stock this tank. The nice thing about corals is all you need is a small frag to regrow everything. I'll also hit the local fish stores for some of the more lucrative livestock you can find in this area.

Tagging along. Beautiful work!

Thanks Tonyespinoza

Very nice design! This is going to be awesome!Subscribed!
