Is there any deflection on the floor? Looks like there is a slight slope to the tank.....buy maybe just the pic. I know when I set up my 110 on the main floor I had a gap develop over time between the baseboard and the flooring.
Thanks. No slope. Most level tank I've ever had. Even the overflow water trickles evenly across the acrylic teeth. I've got the support structure so solid under the tank and it won't be moving anywhere.

Spent the morning reading through this entire thread. Thank you for sharing so much every step of the way. As a newbe to this hobby seeing the planning, time and effort it takes to create such a masterpiece is really informative and eye opening. Bravo. Looks absolutely amazing!
A couple of questions:
1) How did you decide on your light height? Have you done any PAR measurements or tried any different heights with your LEDs? I have 5 Orpheks over a 6 foot 400g mixed reef and am at a bit of a loss as to where I should be putting my corals. Burned a couple near the top, but my fixtures are sitting on bars only 8 inches above the water. Exactly what height above the water are yours sitting?
2) What is your approximate flow return rate to your sump? Seems that most of your flow is generated from the MP60s and Tunze wavemaker. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on flow/water return. There is nothing in this setup that seems like guesswork and I would love to hear your reasoning as your overall setup seems very similar to mine.

Sorry guys I haven't been able to post for a few days. The tank is doing very well. Everything is settling in nicely. I spent a couple days trying to assign my vortech pumps to the vortech controller so I can control them with the profilux. The mp60s have the capability to wirelessly connect with the vortech controller. Unfortunately I was only able to get one pump to assign to the controller no matter what I tried. I eventually contacted the profilux rep who forwarded me to Gareth at progressive reef. He is the most experienced with the mp60s. We spent about a half hour trying different solutions when he had me open up the housing to check that the wireless chips were seated properly. What I found was that 3 of the 4 mp60s were assembled without wireless chips. No wonder I couldn't get them to assign wirelessly. Gareth is sending me out 3 chips to install.

Thanks. I used acrylic solvent with a needle applicator to melt the pieces of acrylic together. I then used acryweld glue to lined the inner seames of the sump to ensure no water leaks. You can get everything from wherever you get the plastic cut from.
Thanks. There is quite a bit of flow at the opposite end of the tank. I'm only running the mp60s at 1/2 power and I can see the flow in the soft corals. the backflow across the top towards the overflow is very strong as well. I'm very impressed with the power of the mp60s. I'll be even more impressed when I can control them with my profilux.
I haven't done any finite measurements, but I did have some corals burn in my last tank when I first set the LEDs up. This tank I purposely designed the canopy to be 30 inches tall to allow me to raise the lights quite a bit from the water surface. They currently sit about 15 inches off the water. The lights are extremely intense and in preparation I had a 400 watt metal halide hanging very low over the sps in my holding tanks. My hope was to reduce the shock to the corals when I moved them to the display. So far so good. I have had to move some of my mushrooms to shaded areas of the tank. The light even at 30 inches of water (they were on the substrate) was too bright for them.
Yes, most of the flow rate is provided by the mp60s. This is by design. I have a mag 24 as a return pump. At the height that it has to pump I estimate a 1200 gallon/hr flow into and out of the display tank. I chose this value based on the processing capacity of my skimmers. The two cone skimmers I employ have pumps rated at 600 gallons/hr, meaning they both together can process a maximum of 1200 gallons/hr of water. I just matched this value with my return pump since I dont need it to supplement the flow. The mp60s are more than capable to provide more than enough flow for the display tank.

hi couger, tank looks fantastic. great job. how did your ramp idea for detrious work thus far.
I haven't seen any build up of detritus which leads me to believe one of two things. It's either not working, or it's too early to tell. Let's give it a few weeks.

One thing I told myself before the build. Always build the biggest possible tank you can afford and fit into the space. If you don't, you'll always wish you went bigger.
Very nice! Planning my second penninsula here. How is the MP60 noise in the glass boxes? Do you think you would hear them without your top hood? I'm planning same boxes for two or three MP40 but without top cover and experiencing noise currently with my MP40 makes me looking forward for these glass boxes solutions...

That's too bad about the power outage. Outages are rare here, and when they happen they are usually less that an hour long. My battery back up keeps the water flowing. I'm hoping to install some sort of generator at some point in preparation for the long outage that will inevitably happen. Last one was about 8hrs in 2004 I think. That was the one that affected the whole Northeast US and Canada.
You can barely hear the MP60s. Virtually silent with the top on. I can however here them when the cabinets are open. Not terribly loud, but audible.
