I got a really nice clownfish at GWA about a week ago and he is doin great. But I would like to add another one, but I'm not sure if it is a good idea or not....

Any thoughts?

Thanks

which kind did you get? In general it is a good idea to keep 2 clowns as they are social animals, and benefit from companionship. However, if you got a maroon or a tomato, you need to be aware of the aggression issues with these types. There is a sticky on the clownfish and anemone forum to help you with the technique. Be sure to read this before you get another clown.

Good luck!

Absolutely. Get a smaller one. You should have no problems as long as you get a smaller captive reared one, one that is not the largest one in the tank at the pet shop. ORA clownfish are wonderful as well as the ones bred in St. Louis, found at Clayton Pet Emporium.

Your large one is female by now. You want a smaller male or undetermined gender. Two females will fight to the death. The largest fish in the tank is likely a female if it is mature. Putting a smaller fish with the female you have will ensure that you have peace and tranquility.
Cheers,
Kathy
