Another ID

I know, I know, another ID. Can anybody help with an idea from this crappy pic?

Did you buy this mantis at Tropicorium today in Romulus, MI???

LOL- I was just about to post a pic of the mantis that I bought there today for a positive ID- I think mine is a male g. ternatensis- and I think the pic you posted is a female ternatensis.

I was there about 2pm- looked at both and then decided on the male- it was hard to decide. They thought they had 3 in stock- but could not find one of them in the tank that was labeled.

Yes I did. I was in there around 4:00. They told me they sold another one today. That is too funny.

I'm sure someone will correct me but that looks alot like my smithii.
Can you see if the meral spots look like they are blue/black with a white outline?

Im thinking G. tern as well. It has the red intersegmentral lines but i cant see the little pinkish bumps at the base of the uropods that would yell G. smithii. If you can get a pic of the meral spots that would tell for sure what it is.

edit: that's a pretty mantis ya got thur. how big is she?

I'm not sure these will help. She is eating a piece of shrimp I gave her. Not really moving around alot yet. Still gettin use to its new home.

Also is it common for them to spend alot of time on their back? It just kind of hangs out next to the rock on it's back. It swam around for a minute when I turned on the light today. It's feet are moving and it grabbed the piece of shrimp.

If it's eating, it's fine. First thing that goes is appetite. My peacock likes to lie on her side in her burrow.

You can see the orange meral spot in one of those pics, definetly G. Tern.
