(To preface, I kept a reef for about a decade in the late 90's-early 2000's with a mix of Tampa Bay Saltwater and Fiji Transshipped live rock and am very much not a fan of the "dead rock" look. I understand that it works well for certain tanks, but I really enjoyed the variety of life in my old tank and would like to have that again.)
I just received the 20 gallon "Package" from Tampa Bay Saltwater to go in my 40B build. Richard (from Tampa Bay Saltwater) and I have been emailing back and forth about my purchase for several weeks now, and I have found him to be a really nice guy who really cares about what happens to the life on his rock. Not only did he guide me through the shipping process, he also woke up at 4 am to personally mail my rock to me so I could get it at a better time of the day (I have a 4 hour round trip commute to my nearest freight airport). On top of that, the rock is spectacular, the gorgonians are awesome, and he threw in quite a few extras (including two awesome little rock anemones) which were a total surprise. I was shocked by just how much I received for my purchase (it's a LOT of rock, sand, and critters).
I could not be happier with my purchase, but honestly, you need pics to truly see the amazing amount of life on the rock he is currently farming...
Sponges, tunicates, colonial tunicates, barnacles, pistol shrimp, small bivalves, snails, tube worms, spaghetti worms, etc. with no apparent algae (except coralline) or aiptasia.
And here are the three gorgonians I received (one is a gift, THANKS!!!) in my daughters Biocube...
