Another is it reef safe question

I am always on the look out for those non-reef items that can be used in our hobby.

Today I was using rustoleum's leak seal flexible rubber coating to stop a leaking rain gutter. This is the as seen on tv coating that the guy made a door into a boat.

It can be used on pvc. It says it contains xylene and methyl acetate. I figure it should be UV resistant if it is used outside but don't know and I cannot find anything on the website.

I got a 12 oz. can for $9 at HD and figured if safe it would be able to hide display pipes pretty well.

So yeah or no way?

Thank you. And no I have not used it just brainstorming for the next project.

OK, this is just a guess, but I would think that with enough cure time it would be pretty inert. Most rubbers and plastics are OK in the tank. The two solvents you mentioned would be gone by the time it cured. I can't say that I know for a fact, but I don't think I would be too scared of it.

Thanks David.

As I said it is a "down the road" thought. It would be cool to use it in a nano to allow for additional space for coral growth.

I sprayed a plastic cup and let it dry and the rubber is pretty hard because I could not scratch it with a fingernail but it wasn't as textured as I had hoped.

I still think it would hide most pipes and the rough surface would allow for better algae growth.

Anyone else?
