Another lighting question

Hey everyone. I know lighting gets asked about a lot, but I couldn't find a good answer to my question by searching through the forum. I was wondering if there is such thing as too much light for seahorses? I know they only need ambient light but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that they could get "sunburnt" even. I have a 40gal tall setup. A friend gave me a light fixture and was wondering if it's too bright. It's a 24" 72 watt diy Cree led fixture but it isn't dimmable. I plan on growing macros and soft corals. Thanks for the help

I do not have LEDs but i do have a 4 bulb HOT5 fixture with reflectors. My tank is only 22" deep and is fairly bright when all 4 bulbs are on. I also have macro algae and soft coral. I have not had a problem with sunburned ponies although in the beginning they did grow a little algae on their backs. That isn't the case now.

Do make sure they have some spots they can go to that are in the "shade". You don't want to blast them all day with bright light.

The bright daylight bulbs are only on for 5 hrs. but they can go behind the rock work on the right under a ledge or the overflow.
