Another Marineland DD Build

I reattached the bottom trim last weekend to give it enough time to fully cure before attempting to put the tank on the stand. Yesterday my wife threw me a graduation party  which also turned out to be a perfect time to put the tank in place.

Figured it was a good idea to move the tank before the party really got started and turned into:

Me finally starting to enjoy having a life again

Just a couple of the reasons why the tank was moved first :lolspin:

I got through most of the cutting/fitting for the drains and returns. I still need to finish the final fitting for the Dart pump that I will use for the return and to feed everything attached to the manifold. After I finish the drains and returns I will start on the plumbing for the Hammerhead and Ocean Motion 8 way.

Well I just filled the tank with freshwater and going to let it run for a couple of days to check for leaks. I am sure there will be a couple around the bulk heads in the 100g rubbermaid tub, only time will tell. I am almost there!!!

Another step closer...all of the leaks have been taken care of and the tank has been running for a little over a week with saltwater. I put 150 lbs of new sand, 7 large pieces of live rock from my current tank, and about 75 gallons of water from my current tank. And it looks like the cycle is good, just have a few parameters I need to get up.

Temp - 77.8
Salinity - 1.023
Ph - 8.38
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0
Calcium - 360
Alk - 8
Magnesium - 1100

you a ULNS guy that blue millie is stunning. 300's are sick when i get older its gonna be my show tank, a lfs near me has one and there is so much room in there to form a tank of the month :)

Unfortunately I lost some of my fish and had to sell others when the 220 busted. Right now I just have a yellow tang, blue hippo tang, and purple tang. I have a pink tail trigger and green wolf eel that I probably am going to put in the 100g rubbermaid tub until I get the basement finished and setup the 75g tank again. For the other fish I will stock it with:

- powder blue tang
- naso blonde tang
- either ORA Percula semi picasso or ORA black and white false percula
- cobberbanded butterfly
- pair of two barred rabbitfish
- school of banggai cardinals
- few different blennies
- haven't quite decided on an anthias yet

I am sure I will think of some other fish to add to the list. I still am up in the air about the aquascaping but really need to get that started this weekend.

All of the parameters checked out good this weekend and was able to make some more progress :celeb2::beer:

Well I didn't realize it has been so long since I last posted an update, but a lot has been going on the past 2.5 years. I finished remodeling the entire inside of the house and finally able to relax some. Next will be to start putting some more time and attention on the tank. Below are some pics since the last update, usually with the glass dirty since all my time was spent working on the house.

Very nice... I remember seeing this thread when I first joined here. I am glad you updated it. Can we see a pic of the other side too? I am curious how things turned out.

Great looking room!!
Pot office must have lost my invite for game day football.......:D
Corey

I cannot wait for March Madness to start...4 days straight of nothing but basketball for me!

Worm, I will try to get some updated pics of the back. I first need to clean stuff up because my OM 8-way broke and things are a mess right now.

Great build..these DD aquariums are the only "off" shelve aquariums I would purchase. The dimensions are awesome, starphire is most importabnt, and it's cost effective. There are many advantages of having your aquarium in-wall. (plumbing, cooling, noise, corner flow hidden). Look forward to seeing you stock this bad-boy

Happy reefing
