Another nuisance algea question..

Hello all,

This is my first time posting, actually I'm sort of new to the site but not new to the hobby. Does anyone out there have any experience controlling hypnea algae? (I believe its hypnea from the research i've done in identifying this algae)

That stuff is very invasive. Best bet is ripping it out, being careful to recover any pieces. I've also found that tangs and rabbit fish will eat it.

Unfortunately the tank is only a 20 gallon, so A tang or rabbit fish is out of the question. Do you think a Diadema urchin could work?

Perhaps purchasing one rabbit fish and then trading it in after your problem is under control may work.
