Another skimmer question (which one fits)

I am searching for a skimmer. I would like to say price is not an option but I would like to stay under 450 I have a 75gal rr in the making with a oceanic model 1 sump. I will be running A mag 7 as a return. The sump sits under the tank in the stand so I'm looking at around 30 inches clearence. I haven't measures it that's just a guess. I just need to know which skimmer will fit in the sump. If I don't have the room for the footprint of one I'm not completely against the idea of a HOB for the sump. Thanks for the ideas

Personally I would shy away from a HOB skimmer. I did a quick search but could not find your sumps dimensions. That would help recommending a skimmer.

What is going to be in the tank?

I have a MSX 160 from marinesolutionsinc.com on my 90g SPS tank and it does a great job. for 10 more bucks you could get a MSX 200 if it will fit in your sump. I dont know about know but last year when i built my tank, it was the best bang for the buck... and now that its dropped in price i would assume that its still probably true.

I don't know the dimensions but the ocean force 100 from MRC is tiny. 5.5in by 4.5in and works great.

allright I just went out and measured the sump and total dims are. 24Lx 12.5w x 16.5tall the sump came with a bioball tower that is on the intake side but it just sits in there and can be removed. If i choose to leave it in I have approximately 8.5inches x 12.5inches of area to play with for skimmer, however i think i am going to remove the tower and have the intake drop directly into the skimmer area which is 17.5x12.5 but i would like to add a fuge in the center. I hope this makes sense to someone out there. I picked up this sump for 40bucks so i can scrap the whole thing and do something different if i have to. I plan on keeping mostly sps and high end lps and chalices. I will have a decent fish load, but i havent made up my mind on what yet. thanks for all the help.

I think Radioheadx14 nailed it. For your tank the MSX 160 or Reef Octopus extreme 160 is a great choice. They have a foot print of 8x10" and are 23" high.

I think I would skip the bio balls that came with your sump.

EDIT: One more point, most skimmers like 8-10" of water in the sump. Make sure your sump can accommodate that.
