I want to add squareback anthias to my 120 but I read that high powered lights cause their color to fade. I have 2x250 20k for lighting do you think they will fade?

Never heard of high power lights causing their colors to fade. What will cause their colors to fade is if they are kept alone without other anthias of the same species to display to one another.
On another note i would not recomend square back anthias for a 120 gallon tank as they do get fairly large and would need a little more room since they do best in a small group, a better choice would be lyretails, bartletts, Hutchi, bicolors among others.

I don't know what would cause it, but the description on live aquaria said they would fade. So I was seeing if it was bs or not. Thought maybe someone who had them could chime in and say they were keeping them under MH with no problems.

I have various anthias under halides and VHO's. I have not had any fading however like Julio mentioned, I do have alot of anthias in my tank with various males to keep everyone on top of their game so to speak and I do feed a couple times of day, with a variety of foods to keep weight on them. This might also help with fading issues.

I have actually found that the colors ont he anthias have actually gotten brighter when kept under halides since is more natural lighting than flourescent. I keep lyretails and Bimacs and their colors are as bright as ever, just make sure you feed a varied diet.

I feed two kinds of omega flakes, Cyclopeez frozen and freeze-dried, mysis shrimp, brime shrimp plus and seaweed selects. I hope they find something they like. Glad to hear they do fine under MH. That statement cought me off guard, live aquarias descriptions are usually right on outside of reccomended tank size which is a debate all by itself.

i only feed my anthias a few times a day before i am going out of town, but this is a myth IMO, is good to feed them regularly a fw times a day when first acquired to fatten them up but they will be just fine if fed once a day.
