Anthias in a 75 gallon?

Is there any type of anthia that will do well in a group of three or four in a 75 gallon reef? I love the color of most anthias and the fact that they are open water swimmers.

It depends on how well/often you can feed them and how heavily stocked the tank is.

If you don't have many other fish competing for zooplankton and you are willing to feed 2-4 times a day, you can keep several of the smaller varieties. I have limited experience with Dispars which are incredibly beautiful and would do fine in a 75. Bartlett's and Ignitus are possibilities also.

Good Luck

+1 on the dispar anthias. I purchased three. The large male was always hiding behind powerheads and only the females came out at feeding time. After several months, the male died, so I replaced him with a tiny female that my LFS just happened to have in stock. The largest female changed to male and they have lived happily ever after for a year now...

I have 2 sunburst anthias that I kept in a 75, and now have in my 34 gallon solana and they are doing fine. I have 2 feed them twice a day as their metabolism is very high. They are beautiful fish. Another name is fathead anthias.

leslee, did you add your two sunburst at the same time or seperate? I have only currently whose is still smal (2" at most).

stay away from purple queens. Its impossible for them to eat. At one point, it was the only fish in the tank and still wouldn't eat anything I offered.
